Can I remove a Banana tree sapling and transplant it?
I have a Banana tree that my neighbor would like a cutting from. It seems that a new tree appears after one fruits and dies. I was also wondering if I took one, would another grow in its place.
You have to wait until the new baby is big enough to be separated. I have never had luck separating them the first year after they come up. Usually you have to wait for the second or third year of their life for them to be viable away from the Mother Tree.
All my banana trees die after they fruit too. But numerous babies appear as they grow into adulthood before the main Mama plant fruits.
